Why dry climates change the way skin feels
The outermost layer of the skin acts as a protective interface between the body and the environment. Water continually moves through this layer and evaporates into the surrounding air, a process known as transepidermal water loss, or TEWL.
When the surrounding environment is particularly dry, maintaining comfortable, supple skin can become more difficult.
That is why Face Shield is fundamentally different from a water-heavy lotion. It is a concentrated lipid treatment designed to form the final nourishing layer of a skincare routine.
The lipid foundation
Face Shield combines a deliberately concise group of lipid-rich ingredients: grass-fed tallow, clarified butter, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, prickly pear seed oil and vitamin E. A trace of vanilla oleoresin gives the finished product a subtle aromatic softness rather than a conventional perfume-heavy scent.
The result is deliberately concentrated. Face Shield is not intended to disappear like a lightweight lotion. A small amount is warmed between the fingertips and spread over the skin.
Water first. Lipids second.
Face Shield makes particular sense when applied after the skin has already received water. After cleansing, bathing or applying a suitable facial mist, the skin is lightly hydrated. Face Shield then provides the lipid-rich finishing layer.

Face Shield is becoming a system
Face Shield is the foundation of Clean Arc’s facial-care family rather than a single isolated jar. Future products within the Face Shield family can include a fine facial mist based around rose water or silver water, lip care, a cooling under-eye roller and eventually a dedicated eyebrow oil.
